Update news business scams
Authorities have continuously warned Vietnamese businesses to stay prudent when trading with foreign partners in the face of a recent scam increase.
In July, the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) reported that some of its members have exported peppercorn, cinnamon, star anise, and cashew nuts to the UAE but found signs of scams from the same buyer and the same bank based in Dubai.
The Vietnam Trade Office in Canada has warned Vietnamese businesses about export scams by some individuals misrepresenting themselves as major Canadian companies.
there are a number of items, including pepper, star anise, cashew, and cinnamon from Vietnam exported to the UAE showing signs of commercial fraud.
Four consignments of exports worth $400,000 were taken out of a port without payment. Documents of another shipment were lost. The total value of the lost value, which pointed to signs of fraud, was about $500,000.
In order to avoid unfortunate losses, MoIT recommends that Vietnamese enterprises, when dealing with foreign enterprises, must be cautious and carefully negotiate payment terms to ensure safety.
