For the first time, the cavalry unit of Vietnam’s Mobile Police Force made a striking appearance during a joint rehearsal for the upcoming national parade, marking the 50th anniversary of the country’s reunification.

On the morning of March 29, at the Parade Command Center in An Phuoc Commune, Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province, the rehearsal for the People's Public Security forces took place in preparation for the parade and march celebrating the reunification of Vietnam (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

From early morning, 10 parade formations gathered in high spirits, demonstrating discipline and responsibility. Under the direction of the organizing committee, each formation maintained its structure, spacing, and marching rhythm, creating a solemn and powerful atmosphere.

The highlight of the morning was the debut of the Mobile Police Force's cavalry unit. Dozens of well-trained horses, accompanied by officers in full uniform, advanced in unison, creating a majestic and commanding presence.

This is the first time a cavalry formation has been included in the People's Public Security parade, reflecting the meticulous and professional preparation for this historic event. At 8:30 a.m., the parade units simultaneously began moving in their designated formations.

Commanded with precision by Mobile Police officers, the powerful steeds moved in sync with the rest of the parade units. Mounted riders, dressed in polished uniforms, maintained perfect posture, eyes focused, and reins firmly in hand, exemplifying discipline and combat readiness.

Lieutenant Dang Xuan Hoat, Head of the Mobile Police Cavalry Unit under the Ministry of Public Security’s Mobile Police Command, shared that more than 60 trained horses and 100 officers and soldiers had traveled from Thai Nguyen to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in training and preparation for the 50th reunification anniversary.

The horses in the unit are primarily of Mongolian origin and have undergone rigorous training to meet operational demands. However, Lieutenant Hoat noted that practicing on asphalt and concrete surfaces posed challenges for the horses, as such terrain is less suitable for their movement.

“To ensure a safe and visually impressive cavalry parade on April 30, both officers and horses must undergo intensive, synchronized training,” he explained.

The Mobile Police Cavalry Unit was established in 2020 under the Mobile Police Command of the Ministry of Public Security. It is a specialized force responsible for patrols, crime suppression, and participation in key national events.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Si Ha, Commander of the Cavalry Parade Unit, emphasized the unique nature of cavalry training, which involves selecting suitable officers and horses and building coordination between them.

“After selecting officers based on Ministry of Public Security standards, we continue by choosing appropriate horses. Training begins with basic movements and gradually increases in complexity to foster coordination between rider and horse,” he said.

Despite facing various challenges, including weather changes during the long journey from the north to the south, Lieutenant Colonel Ha confirmed that the Mobile Police Cavalry Force has completed its key preparations and is ready to participate in this significant national event.
