On the first days of the New Year, an Indian billionaire's family came to Da Nang to organize a wedding for bride Tuisha and groom Gaurav. As many as 350 guests attended the wedding and there were 100 event workers. Cooks and more than two tons of materials, clothes and props were carried from India to Da Nang for the wedding on Jan 25-29.

In 2019, an Indian billionaire chose Da Nang for the wedding of his daughter with 600 guests. However, little information about the wedding reached the public.

Satish Ramnani, director of Veydaa Events, which pioneered bringing Indian weddings to Da Nang, said the sea city, with luxury accommodations, has great potential to become an attractive destination for Indian weddings. The company is planning two other weddings in Da Nang in 2023.

Nguyen Thi Hoai An, director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center under the Da Nang Tourism Department, said the Indian family chose Da Nang for the wedding. It is expected that another Indian wedding will be organized at Furama Da Nang with 200 guests.

“Da Nang appears to be the new destination for Indians. Instead of familiar places such as Bali and Phuket, Indian billionaires, who seek originality, tend to choose Da Nang which is suitable for luxurious weddings,” An said.

Da Nang is the home of My Khe, ranked as one of the six most beautiful beaches of the planet. It is located in an advantageous area connecting with other places. There are direct air routes from the city to India, including to New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

“However, compared with other famous wedding venues, Da Nang remains a new place, so the city needs to apply policies with attractive prices and service quality in order to attract more Indian billionaire weddings,” An said.

She said the program on welcoming the Indian wedding event is part of the plan on advertising Da Nang as a wedding destination, targeting the Indian market.

The city plans to organize other events to promote the market in the time to come, including attendance at the SATTE Trade Fair and famtrips for Indian wedding event companies.

According to Da Nang Tourism Association, the city has cultural similarities with Indians, and has places symbolizing Champa culture, such as the Cham Sculpture Museum and My Son Sanctuary. To attract Indian guests, the city needs an ecosystem of accommodations, cooks and food materials.
