The Da Nang People’s Committee has proposed investing in 33 technical and social infrastructure projects to serve its future free trade zone.
According to the proposal, Da Nang will prioritize funding and investment in both internal and external infrastructure for the free trade zone.
Three technical and social infrastructure projects within the free trade zone, located in Hoa Vang District, are planned. These include: Shared technical infrastructure for production zones, Shared technical infrastructure for logistics zones, Shared technical infrastructure for trade, services, and other functional areas.
Thirty projects will be developed outside the free trade zone, spread across Hoa Vang District and Lien Chieu District.
Some notable external infrastructure projects include: Logistics and inland port facilities, New urban areas (Urban Area No. 1 and No. 2), Coastal port service urban zones along the Cu De River, Resettlement areas in Hoa Son, Hoa Ninh, and Hoa Nhon,
In addition, critical road projects include: The extended western ring road, Ba Na-Suoi Mo road extension connecting to the western ring road, Nguyen Sinh Sac road extension, Western ring road 2 segment linking Road 8 to the airport tunnel connector, Cu De River road, Connection road from Lien Chieu Port through the Cu De River port service urban area and the free trade zone to the North-South Expressway, A direct connection road to a 400-hectare production zone.
Other planned projects include a high-tech zone for research, development, training, and business incubation.
Da Nang is finalizing its proposal to establish the free trade zone, with plans to submit it to the Ministry of Planning and Investment by December 2024 for appraisal and eventual approval by the Prime Minister.
The proposed free trade zone is expected to boost economic growth, attract investment, and position Da Nang as a critical hub for logistics, trade, and technology in the region.
