More than 30 companies have registered to lease office space in ICT1, part of the new Software Park No. 2 in Da Nang, surpassing the available capacity of the building, according to Da Nang’s Department of Information and Communications.

A hub for tech innovation

The first phase of Software Park No. 2, a key infrastructure project for Da Nang, was launched in October 2020 with an initial investment of VND 986 billion ($42 million). Located on Nhu Nguyet Street in Hai Chau District, the park covers nearly 28,600 square meters and includes three office towers ranging from 8 to 20 stories.

On October 30, 2024, the Da Nang People's Council approved an additional VND 414 billion ($17 million) investment, raising the total project cost to over VND 1,400 billion ($60 million). The facility is expected to accommodate 6,000 IT engineers when fully operational.

The ICT1 building, with eight stories, has already attracted significant interest, with 30 companies registering for over 25,000 square meters of office space - far exceeding its leasing capacity.

The park is scheduled for completion and inauguration in January 2025, becoming a cornerstone of Da Nang's growing reputation as a tech hub.

Leading Vietnam’s ICT landscape

Da Nang continues to lead Vietnam’s digital transformation efforts, ranking first among cities and provinces in the Vietnam ICT Index for the 14th consecutive year. In 2024, the city also topped the national rankings for digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

The ICT sector generated over VND 39,000 billion ($1.65 billion) in revenue in 2024, marking a 9.07% increase from 2023. Software exports grew by 11.6%, reaching $165 million.

By leveraging data-driven decision-making, Da Nang has improved public services significantly. For example, the city uses analytical tools to identify and address administrative bottlenecks, ensuring timely processing of public service applications.

Da Nang leads the nation with a 95% completion rate for end-to-end online public services, far surpassing the national average of 55%. The city’s 65% online case resolution rate also sets a national benchmark.

Plans for 2025 and beyond

In 2025, Da Nang aims to increase ICT sector revenue by 10–11% and software exports by 11–12%. Key initiatives include:

Software Park No. 2: Fully operationalizing the park, including labs for AI and semiconductor training.

Digital infrastructure: Expanding 5G coverage to industrial zones and establishing private 5G networks for smart manufacturing.

Media consolidation: Merging local media outlets such as Da Nang Radio & Television and the Da Nang Newspaper to form a centralized Media and Television Center.

Digital transformation roadmap: Developing a comprehensive strategy for 2026–2030 with a vision extending to 2035.

Speaking at a review meeting on January 7, Da Nang's Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong emphasized the city’s commitment to supporting IT businesses. He urged authorities to expedite the park’s inauguration and foster conditions for enterprises to thrive.

As Da Nang continues its journey toward becoming a smart city and a leading tech hub, Software Park No. 2 stands as a testament to its ambition and innovation-driven growth.
