Braving cold and rainy weather, tens of thousands of pilgrims from across the country traveled to the Hung Kings Temple in Phu Tho Province on March 30 to offer incense.
Although nearly a week remains before the official Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day in 2025 (the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month), large crowds began gathering today (March 30, the 2nd day of the 3rd lunar month) at the National Historic Site on Nghia Linh Mountain.
According to VietNamNet reporters on the scene, from 8 a.m., the crowd began moving slowly through the ceremonial courtyard and past the main gate of the Hung Kings Temple, en route to the Upper Temple (Den Thuong).
Due to the overwhelming number of visitors, localized congestion occurred. Police forces were stationed at key points to establish soft barriers, ensuring the safety of pilgrims and maintaining order.
By 9 a.m., all primary parking areas within the temple complex were completely full, and no additional vehicles were allowed entry.
Tran Hoang Quy (32), a resident of Viet Tri City, shared that his family visits the Upper Temple every year on the weekend before the official celebration to offer incense.
Quy said his family arrived at the temple gate around 8 a.m., where thousands of people were already queuing. By 9:30 a.m., they had made their way to the Upper Temple and completed their offering.
Speaking to VietNamNet, Pham Thi Hoang Oanh, Deputy Director of the Hung Kings Temple Historical Site, noted that approximately 15,000 visitors arrived on March 29.
She added that security forces had effectively coordinated their responsibilities, and public order was well maintained throughout the site.
“Today, being a Sunday, the number of visitors is expected to triple compared to yesterday, reaching nearly 50,000. From early morning, security teams were deployed to manage traffic, station personnel at key locations, and install soft barricades to ensure the safe flow of people toward the temples,” said Oanh.
To ensure safety and security for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the 2025 Land of the Ancestors Culture and Tourism Week, the Phu Tho Provincial Police have mobilized nearly 1,000 officers for duty.
The Hung Kings Commemoration and the 2025 Land of the Ancestors Culture and Tourism Week runs from March 29 to April 7 (the 1st to the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month) in Viet Tri City, featuring a wide array of events and cultural activities.
