Len Lỏi Exhibtition is a speculative spatial design project which intentionally challenges one’s perception and understanding of hẻm (alley) in District 4, Ho Chi Minh city. Drawing from students’ multiple research approaches, engagement with locals and place experiences, a series of multifunctional adaptive reuse commercial spaces designed by students in Interior Stream – Design Studies at RMIT University is finally ready to be showcased.

Inspired by the characteristics and identity of the area, ‘Len Loi’ project honours the community’s original values while tackling the challenge of designing small scale multifunctional spaces that fit in with the local architectural landscape. The design of our projects is not only keeping with the heritage of District 4, but also contributing to place with spaces having commercial value for local people and businesses.

The name Len Lỏi in Vietnamese was chosen to deliver a strong message that the spaces are designed to be woven through and constructed in a compressed and complicated area where numerous narrow alleys exist. The designers’ intention is to show how their designs could harmonise with the general architecture of District 4 by modernising and utilising the area to the maximum potential while honouring the local people who make the area special and unique.

Exhibition “Future Perfect”

From June 30, 2022, Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA) introduces artist Le Giang’s solo exhibition – “Future Perfect”, displaying more than 20 works including gem paintings, sculptures and video installations, as the result of Le Giang’s research and composition over the past year.

Le Giang has delved into the wealth of local mythology and folklore that record tales of stone worshipping; scanning through the abundance of information found in scientific reports and geological surveys; collecting news coverage surrounding issues of stone extraction and the booming trend of trading Feng Shui products online. Drawn to the processes of how something is granted the status of ‘sacredness’, and how spiritual symbols can be transformed and moulded into sellable goods, she explores the mechanisms (both industrial and small-scale, in-person and online) that are employed to control, extract and inject commercial values into Nature.

Exhibition “Movement”

Movement by Mzung Nguyen is a solo exhibition, a visual essay reflecting the transition of urban life through a mixed discipline of collage-art practices. In terms of materials, this project collects and reuses hundreds of old magazines, which have been published during the past decade. Mzung Nguyen finds motivation in tracking the shifts in time and space, the replacement of old and new values, the cultural disparity between tradition and modernity, and the contrasts between human life and the natural world that are printed out in these old publications.

In the Midst of Mirages

“In the midst of mirages” is the title of Vin Gallery’s next show by Duy Phương. The show will present Duy Phương’s long-term photography projects, “Volatile States” (2010 – 2017) and “Mirages” (2017 – 2022). Duy Phương beautifully captures the emotions and changes in the landscape of Vietnam and the society in its natural state.

Leica Vietnam proudly presents in cooperation with the Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City the famous photo collection ‘The Eye Of Istanbul’ from Leica Hall of Fame Photographer – Ara Güler.

Istanbul, with one foot in Europe and the other in Asia, stands at the intersection of a multitude of cultures, religions and languages. At once modern and traditional, it’s a city that has fascinated and intrigued visitors for centuries. Instabul was historically in-strumental in the advancement of Christianity during Roman and Byzantine times, be-fore the Ottomans conquered it in 1453 CE and transformed it into an Islamic strong-hold and the seat of the Ottoman Caliphate. In 2015, Istanbul was named a European Capital of Culture, making the city one of the world’s most popular tourist destination.

Nguyen Art Foundation (NAF) proudly invites you to the opening of ‘Illuminated Curiosities’, a group exhibition with 26 artists featuring 46 artworks from within and outside NAF’s Collection. Curated by art researcher Ace Le, with the curatorial assistance from Duong Manh Hung and Tam Nguyen, the exhibition will take place simultaneously across the campuses of EMASI Nam Long and EMASI Van Phuc, over the course of six months from May to December of 2022. ‘Illuminated Curiosities’ is a collaborative effort between NAF and Lan Tinh Foundation.

Exhibition spotlights tigers in Vietnam’s ancient art

Featuring more than 30 exhibits, documents and images featuring tigers throughout over 2,000 years of the country's art history, showing that the image of tigers was widely portrayed in Vietnam’s ancient pottery, carving and folk paintings, among others.
