Only about 15km from the center of the former royal capital city of Hue, Ru Cha forest is a rare primeval mangrove forest in the Tam Giang lagoon system.
The Ru Cha mangrove forest is located in Thuan Hoa village, Huong Phong commune, Huong Tra town, Hue city. According to the Hue local language, "ru" means forest and mountain, and "cha" is the name of a species of plant that covers up to 90% of the local area.
