Yachts left Coral Sea Marina Resort (Queensland, Australia) on February 14 and are due to arrive at Ha Long Bay on February 21 before departing for Jiuzhou port (Guangdong, China) on March 2, said the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Tourism.
Quang Ninh will organize a number of activities to welcome the race teams and promote local tourism. It will introduce its One Commune, One Product (OCOP) products, making sightseeing programnes, explore destinations for Clipper Race crew, and organize an investment and tourism promotion conference, along with a race award ceremony and art programmes.
The Clipper Race organized by Clipper Ventures Plc started in Plymouth, the UK, in October 1996. Currently, more than 50 cities around the world are the race’s competition venues.
Through the event, Quang Ninh expects to promote its tourism potential, especially for tourists from European, North American, and Australian markets.
