According to the city transport department, a total of 1,000 bikes including 500 electric bike models, have been arranged at 79 points close to bus stops, metro stations, and tourist sites in the six central districts of Hoan Kiem, Tay Ho, Dong Da, Ba Dinh, Hai Ba Trung, and Thanh Xuan.

The service is provided by Tri Nam Group JSC. People are required to install the TNGo app on their smartphones and register for an account to use the rental service.

The fee for each 30-minute use is VND5,000 (USD0.20) for a regular bicycle and VND10,000 (USD0.40) for an electric bike. Fees for the whole day will be VND60,000 (USD2.40) and VND120,000 (USD4.80), respectively.

Monthly and yearly tickets will be available. Rentals can be paid through bank transfers or e-wallet.

The operator said that some 16,000 accounts had been registered to use the service during the seven-day pilot period from August 16-22. Passengers had made 7,000 trips, equivalent to over 46,000 kilometres.

The service was planned last December in the capital but then faced delays due to vehicle shortages.

Hanoi is the sixth locality to deploy the bike-sharing model. Other localities with the service are HCM City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and Binh Dinh.
