On March 30, the Hanoi Police announced that they currently operate three command centers and manage more than 720 surveillance cameras used for maintaining public order and safety. However, the city’s rapid urbanization has necessitated an expansion of its monitoring network.

The new surveillance system, powered by AI, is capable of facial recognition and license plate identification to assist in verifying identities during security incidents. It also enables automatic monitoring and real-time detection of traffic violations and potential security threats. Furthermore, the system integrates with smart command platforms, allowing rapid response in emergency situations.

In recent years, Hanoi Police have invested heavily in developing digital infrastructure and platforms, strengthening cybersecurity and information safety, and safeguarding state secrets during the digital transformation process. Simultaneously, they are digitizing records and documents to build a comprehensive data infrastructure.

The department has adopted electronic environments for task resolution, monitoring, and executive operations. It has also established and maintained a wide-area internal network that connects to police units at the commune level.

Looking ahead, Hanoi Police plan to continue implementing breakthrough digital transformation applications to effectively harness scientific and technological advances, improve the efficiency of police operations, and reduce administrative processing time for the public.

On average, the department receives nearly 2,000 applications daily for judicial record certificates. Turnaround time ranges from 3 to 9 days via the VNeID platform, and from 10 to 15 days through in-person processing or public service portals.

Since March 1, nearly 20,000 applications for driver’s license issuance or renewal have been processed by Hanoi Police units.
