The railway line had been severely disrupted by the aftermath of Storm Yagi and heavy flooding. Following emergency repair efforts, the tracks were cleared and restored for use as of September 15.
However, with several areas still requiring trains to operate at reduced speeds - between 10 to 15 km/h - only freight services had been operating until now.
From today, the SP3/SP4 passenger trains will be back in service. However, due to the ongoing safety measures, passengers should expect the journey to take 30 to 60 minutes longer than usual.
The SP3 passenger train will depart from Hanoi at 10:00 p.m., while the SP4 train will leave Lao Cai at 9:30 p.m.
This service resumption marks a crucial step in restoring normal travel schedules for the region, providing a safe and convenient option for those traveling between Hanoi and Lao Cai.
