The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) recently announced the results of the competition, which saw 3,803 winners out of 6,482 contestants, achieving a success rate of 58.68%.

Hanoi maintained its leading position with 200 awards, 16 more than the previous year. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City ranked second, with a significant increase of 56 awards compared to last year.

Following them were Hai Phong with 102 awards, Bac Giang with 99, and Hai Duong with 97. Other notable provinces included Nghe An (96), Thai Nguyen (90), Quang Ninh (88), Vinh Phuc (87), Thua Thien-Hue (85), and both Ha Tinh and Nam Dinh with 84 awards each.

In contrast, Hau Giang recorded the lowest number of awards, with only five students recognized.

The MOET highlighted that this year’s results reflected a broad distribution of awards across most provinces, including mountainous and economically disadvantaged regions.

Some students from these areas achieved the highest ranks, demonstrating resilience and potential despite challenges.

Following the announcement of results, students have 15 days to request a re-evaluation of their examination papers if needed. The Ministry’s Quality Management Department will issue certificates to award winners, while other participants will receive certificates of participation.

Looking ahead, the MOET plans to hold the national team selection for regional and international Olympiads in March 2025. Students from various disciplines, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and informatics, who meet specific score thresholds, will be eligible to compete. For instance, students must score at least 24.00 in mathematics, 26.75 in physics, 25.875 in chemistry, 25.50 in biology, and 16.34 in informatics to qualify.

The National Excellent Student Competition for the 2024–2025 academic year took place on December 25 and 26, 2024, with 6,482 participants - 663 more than the previous year.

The event was organized across 68 examination councils, covering 13 subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and, for the first time, Japanese.
