On February 10, residents of An Hai Dong village (Tam Quang commune, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam) discovered a decomposing human torso washed ashore and immediately reported it to the police.

The body had no identification documents, but investigators noted that the left wrist bore four metal bracelets and the left ring finger had a silver-colored ring.

Discovery leads to suspect’s arrest

Major Tran Xuan Thanh, head of the forensic division of the Quang Nam police, stated that the initial autopsy confirmed the victim was a woman. The torso had multiple sharp cuts at the neck, left shoulder, and abdomen, suggesting dismemberment by a sharp object. The estimated time of death was between three to five days prior.

Fingerprint analysis identified the victim as Truong Thi Tuyet T. (born 1984), a resident of Nai Hien Dong ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang.

Recognizing the severity of the case, the Quang Nam police director ordered an immediate criminal investigation on February 12.

Detectives quickly discovered that the victim had been living with her husband, Tran Bao Uyen (born 1962), also from Nai Hien Dong ward.

Upon searching the victim’s residence, police found her two mobile phones along with traces of blood in the kitchen, bloody fingerprints on various objects, and possible bloodstains on Uyen’s motorbike.

Surveillance footage reveals crucial evidence

Security camera footage from the victim’s home revealed that at 8:30 AM on February 6, the victim was inside the house with her husband. However, at 9:58 AM, the camera feed was abruptly cut off.

By reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding areas, investigators uncovered further evidence linking Tran Bao Uyen to the crime.

Despite initially denying any involvement, Uyen was confronted with overwhelming forensic and circumstantial evidence gathered by the police. Under pressure, he ultimately confessed to killing his wife, dismembering her body into three parts, and discarding the remains in the sea to cover up the crime.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to recover all body parts and gather additional evidence to bring the suspect to justice.
