DevDay Da Nang 2023, the day for technology students and officers, was organized recently, attracting 2,000 students, experts and researchers.

Nguyen Van Nam, CEO of TAG Ventures, said Vietnam is seriously lacking workers for the IT industry. Capable IT students can find jobs even when they have not graduated from school.
He said IT graduates who are trained well and have good knowledge can quickly adapt to the working environment and fulfill the tasks assigned to them.
“The number of IT workers now just can satisfy 50 percent of total demand. Therefore, tech firms not only recruit graduates from IT schools, but also economics schools, where there are majors related to IT,” Nam said.
Nguyen Quang Thanh, director of the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications, said there are 46,500 workers in digital technology. The city targets to have 75,000 workers in the field, which means 7,500 workers a year.
Meanwhile, Dr Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Rector of the Da Nang University of Technology, emphasized the importance of cooperation between universities and enterprises to build a high-quality workforce in the central region, and promote the IT industry in Da Nang and contribute to economic development in the region.
A recent report about Vietnam’s IT market by TopDev showed that only 35 percent of total 57,000 graduates of universities and junior colleges can satisfy requirements of enterprises, while 65 percent cannot satisfy requirements on professional knowledge, soft skills, experience and English skills.
