Coc Coc issued its Q2 2023 search trend report, naming the top eight topics that Vietnamese searched for via the Coc Coc search engine in the last three months.
‘Quat tich dien’ (rechargeable electric fan), ‘chu tich ACB’ (ACB president) and ‘BlackPink’ were the most searched words in the second quarter in 2023.
The keyword most searched was ‘mat/cat dien’ (electricity cut/outage). This was explained by the serious electricity shortage in the north in the hot days in late June. The shortage was so serious that Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) had to apply a rotating electricity cut schedule for northern provinces/cities.
The search for quat tich dien and may phat dien gia dinh (household-use electricity generator) increased sharply by 97 and 73 times, respectively, compared with the first quarter of 2023.
The international search trend was BlackPink. The concert for the girl band, expected to take place in Hanoi, has stirred up Vietnamese youth. Blinks (the fans of BlackPink) are hunting for tickets to the concert, to be organized at the My Dinh National Stadium in July.
The president of the Asia Commercial Bank Tran Hung Huy was a top search after his impressive dancing performance under the rain at the event commemorating the 30th anniversary of the bank's establishment.
Also, Vietnamese were interested in the Michelin rating and the demonstrations in France.
Entertainment continued to be the most searched topic in the second quarter, with 28 percent on Coc Coc. For cinema, ‘Bac si Cha’ (Doctor Cha’ and ‘Lat mat 6’ (Face Off: The Ticket Of Destiny) were the two keywords for dramas and movies, respectively.
As for TV shows, the top two were Sisters Who Make Waves, a Chinese reality show, and Viet Rap. The Chinese TV show attracted young Vietnamese thanks to the participation of the Vietnamese singer Chi Pu.
The second hottest topic with 25 percent of search volume was education because of high school entrance and high school final exams.
The third position belonged to Technology. The inquiries about ChatGPT decreased by 6 percent (it was No1 in the first quarter 2023), while ‘AI Chat/AI Search’ saw a growth rate of 101 percent, which shows that users were interested in alternatives for ChatGPT.
