Despite the daily number of COVID-19 cases sharply declining, HCM City has recorded several infections caused by the XBB or BA.2.10 sub-strain of the Omicron COVID variant, announced the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases on January 4.
The rapidly spreading strain accounts for 60 per cent of the cases, with the other subvariants like BA.2 and BA.2.74 accounting for most of the remaining.
