Among the seven players he crossed off the list were two Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC players (Tran Trung Kien and Nguyen Duc Viet) and two Hoa BInh FC players (Tran Van Thang and Nguyen Nam Truong).
The 24 remaining players are scheduled to fly to Cambodia on April 26.
Troussier will continue to eliminate three more names ahead of Vietnam’s opening match on April 30.
Vietnam will play in Group B alongside Laos, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
SEA Games 32 will be a big test for the French coach as all of the U22 Vietnam side are young and most of them have yet to acquire much experience from international clashes. In addition, overage players are not allowed to play at this tournament.
Troussier’s predecessor Park Hang-seo had helped Vietnam secure a gold medal at SEA Games 30 and 31 thanks to partial contributions by overage players Nguyen Tien Linh, Nguyen Trong Hoang, Do Hung Dung and Nguyen Hoang Duc.
