
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on THACO Group to engage in research, technology transfer, and the production of high-speed railway carriages, with the long-term goal of manufacturing locomotives in Vietnam.
During his working visit to Quang Nam Province on February 8, the Prime Minister toured THACO Group’s manufacturing facilities at Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, the country’s largest automotive, mechanical, and logistics hub. With nearly 15,000 employees, THACO is among the leading industrial centers in ASEAN.
According to THACO’s 2025 plan, the company will complete the construction of a new automotive R&D center, focusing on innovation and product development.
Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of THACO Group, pledged to accelerate strategic projects that establish a multi-sector industrial ecosystem at Chu Lai, prioritizing modern management, sustainable development, and digital transformation.
Recognizing THACO’s contributions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended the company for enhancing product quality, increasing localization rates, expanding automation, and creating jobs.
He also praised its efforts in technological innovation and industrialization, which have significantly contributed to national economic growth.
The Prime Minister urged THACO to be a pioneer in innovation, digitalization, and green transformation, emphasizing comprehensive and sustainable growth.
In response to THACO’s proposals, he instructed the Ministry of Transport to expedite procedures for the Cua Lo channel project, allowing 50,000-ton vessels to access Chu Lai Port efficiently.
Highlighting THACO’s industrial potential, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh encouraged the company to lead research and production of high-speed railway carriages, moving towards manufacturing locomotives. He expressed confidence that THACO would achieve even greater success in 2025 across all sectors.
On the same day, the Prime Minister also visited HS Hyosung, a South Korean multinational conglomerate ranked among the 30 largest corporations in Korea.
He later inspected Chu Lai International Port and Chu Lai Airport, key infrastructure assets supporting Quang Nam’s economic growth.
