Authorities in Quang Nam Province have dismantled an illegal religious gathering associated with the “Church of God the Mother.” The group, led by a 30-year-old man, was caught in the act and is now under investigation.

Police raid on unlawful gathering

On the evening of January 21, at approximately 7:40 p.m., police in Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province, raided a residence in the Trung Phu 2 neighborhood of Dien Minh Ward.

They discovered nine individuals (three men, five women, and one child) engaged in illegal religious activities. The group was led by N.T.T., a 30-year-old from Hoi An City who was temporarily residing in Trung Phu 2.

Authorities seized various documents and tools associated with the “Church of God the Mother,” which is not officially recognized in Vietnam.

Government response to unregistered religions

The raid is part of ongoing efforts by local police to address unauthorized religious activities and inform the public about legal requirements for religious practice.

Unregistered religious groups such as the “Church of God the Mother” have been noted for promoting practices that conflict with Vietnamese cultural and ethical values.

The police have urged residents to remain vigilant against such groups and to avoid participating in unlicensed religious gatherings. Officials continue to stress the importance of adhering to Vietnam’s laws on religious activities to maintain social harmony and cultural integrity.
