Many press agencies find it difficult to earn enough money to pay reporters and editors, let alone make investments for reproduction. Therefore, lowering the corporate income tax rate to 10 percent is a necessity.
As the press now has to compete fiercely with social platforms, digital editorial offices will be the solution to digital transformation of the news industry in Vietnam.
Newspapers need to collect reader data to produce articles and personalize content rather than depend too heavily on digital platforms, said Nhan Dan (People) Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh.
The number of news articles and other articles published in electronic newspapers and magazines have soared recently.
The three platforms, which will help press agencies in their digital transformation, were launched on January 12 at the conference reviewing tasks in 2020 and those for 2021 of the information and communication sector.

Major TV stations in Japan, such as NHK, TBS and Fuji, frontpaged their news bulletin on June 6 with a video showing a Chinese vessel sinking a Vietnamese fishing boat on May 26 in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.
The Ministry of Information and Communications will pause granting licenses for the establishment of new press agencies in Vietnam, while checking and closing the newspapers that don’t operate properly to their principles and objectives.
