On the morning of January 26 (the 27th day of the lunar calendar), Hanoi experienced widespread rain and chilly weather caused by a cold air mass. The city’s streets were unusually quiet, with fewer vehicles than usual.

At 8 a.m., Nguyen Trai Street, leading from Ha Dong District to Nga Tu So (Dong Da District), saw sparse traffic as light rain and cold temperatures kept many indoors.

The Thanh Xuan underpass was similarly quiet, with noticeably fewer vehicles. Many residents have already left the city to return to their hometowns for the Lunar New Year (Tet Nguyen Dan 2025).

Nguyen Thi Ha, a resident of Ha Dong District, noted that the cold rain discouraged people from venturing out. “Even those shopping for Tet are waiting for the rain to ease,” she said.

Unlike the bustling traffic seen on January 23-26, Lang Street was notably deserted this morning, with only a handful of vehicles passing by.

On Tran Phu Street (Ha Dong District), near the Ha Dong Post Office, traffic was significantly lighter compared to regular days.

Tran Duy Hung Street, near the Thang Long Boulevard underpass, was also unusually quiet, devoid of the long queues of vehicles typically waiting at red lights.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Hanoi experienced scattered rain throughout January 26. The cold front brought sharp temperature drops, with lows ranging from 9-12°C.

Rain is expected to persist into the night, accompanied by scattered thunderstorms in some areas.

The Hanoi Traffic Police Department has urged commuters to exercise caution during the rainy weather.

Slippery roads and poor visibility require adherence to speed limits and lane discipline to ensure safety for all road users.
