Seven Vietnamese businesses have been granted permission to export their bird's nest products to the Chinese market, according to Tran Thi Thu Phuong, head of International Cooperation and Communications Division under the Department of Animal Health.
Phuong revealed that since the first Vietnamese bird's nest products were shipped to the northern neighbour last November, more than 700 kilos of bird's nests have been exported to the market.
Most recently, Hai Yen Nha Trang Trading Company Limited (The Hai Yen) exported their first batch of bird's nests to this market by air.
As bird's nest is a product that must be quarantined before export, export businesses are required to register with competent authorities before exporting to avoid the products being returned, said Phuong.
To create the optimal conditions possible for export firms, the Department of Animal Health has recently issued documents detailing the process of registering to export bird's nests from Vietnam to China.
The department has also released guidelines on health quarantine and food safety in accordance with the provisions of the Protocol that has been signed between the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the General Department of Customs of China.
