A two-year-old girl in Kien Giang has tragically lost her life after suffering brutal abuse at the hands of her mother’s friend.
The suspect, 30-year-old Mac Hoang Giang, has been arrested and charged with murder, while an accomplice faces charges for failing to report the crime.
Horrific act of violence
The Kien Giang Provincial Police announced on February 25 that they had officially launched criminal proceedings against Mac Hoang Giang (30) for murder and Do Van Ngo (27) for failing to report a crime. Both individuals reside in Vinh Quang Ward, Rach Gia City.
According to the investigation, 28-year-old N.T.D.T., the victim’s mother, entrusted her two-year-old daughter to Giang for temporary care due to their acquaintance.
On February 17, while feeding the child at his home, Giang became enraged when the toddler refused to eat and accidentally soiled the mattress. In a fit of anger, he grabbed a 45cm wooden block and struck the girl repeatedly, causing her to collapse.
Not stopping there, Giang then used a 65cm plastic pipe to continue the assault, striking multiple parts of the child's body.
During this time, Do Van Ngo visited Giang’s home and discovered the lifeless child lying on the floor, covered in bruises. However, instead of alerting authorities, he chose to remain silent.
Severe injuries and tragic outcome
A forensic examination revealed the child suffered multiple traumatic injuries, including severe bruising on the forehead, eye sockets, chest, abdomen, and left kidney. The brutal beating ultimately led to her death.
At the police station, Giang confessed to his actions, admitting his violent outburst. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and ensure justice for the victim.
This tragic case has sparked outrage across the community, with many calling for stricter child protection laws and harsher penalties for child abusers.
