According to the Ministry of Health, the number of e-cigarette smokers in Vietnam in 2020 rose 18 times compared to 2015.
The smoking rate among male adults in Vietnam has decreased over the past years but remains one of the highest in the world, heard a press conference in Hanoi on May 23.
The Ministry of Health has called for a crackdown on illegal new modern cigarettes advertising and trading via e-commerce and social networks.
Though the number of Vietnamese smokers reduced, the country is still one of nations who have high rate of smokers in the world, said the Ministry of Health.
The rate of smokers aged 13-15 in Vietnam fell by 1 percent from 3.3 percent in 2007 to 2.5 percent in 2014, according to a related survey by the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organisation.
