Two Vietnamese nationals are arrested

According to initial information relating to the case, the masterminds of the ring were identified as two Vietnamese nationals, Ding Van Phu and Nguyen Van Viet, along with two Chinese citizens nicknamed Coi and Bentley.

Their headquarters had been located in Bavet city in Svay Rieng province of Cambodia.

They hired an office in order to operate illegal activities and bought in 16 Vietnamese people at a price of US$500 per person. All of them had been scammed by illegal brokers to work in Cambodia.

The illegal Vietnamese workers were then asked to use a sex app to seek customers before then tricking them into transferring money into the suspects’ bank accounts.

Through the scam, the subjects defrauded a number of victims in many provinces and cities across the country to earn more than VND50 billion.

A further investigation into the case is now underway.
