The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has officially approved the Phase 1 investment in the Bao Loc – Lien Khuong expressway project, with a total cost of nearly USD 720 million.
Today (March 31), Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, signed a decision approving the construction of the Bao Loc – Lien Khuong expressway under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The project carries a total investment of approximately VND 18 trillion (USD 718 million).
The expressway will span over 73 kilometers, starting from Loc Phat Ward in Bao Loc City and ending at a connection point with the Lien Khuong – Prenn expressway in Duc Trong District. The route is designed with four lanes, a roadbed width of 17 meters, and a maximum speed limit of 80 km/h.
Phase 1 includes two rest stops positioned symmetrically on either side of the expressway, located in Loc An Commune, Bao Lam District. Each rest stop will cover around 5 hectares. These facilities will be constructed simultaneously with the main expressway to ensure operational readiness.
The project's total investment is nearly USD 720 million, with approximately USD 310 million coming from the state budget and the remaining amount sourced from private investors.
The provincial government announced that investor selection through public bidding will take place in 2025. The expressway is expected to be completed and operational by 2027.
The Bao Loc – Lien Khuong expressway is anticipated to ease congestion on the overburdened National Highway 20 while improving transportation capacity and regional connectivity between the Central Highlands and key southern economic zones.
The project also aims to boost tourism, reinforce national defense and security, and stimulate socio-economic development in Lam Dong Province and neighboring areas.
