Starting today (April 1), Vietnam’s General Statistics Office (GSO) will conduct the 2025 annual enterprise survey across the country.

This survey is part of the national statistical investigation program, implemented in accordance with Decision No. 03 by the Prime Minister.

According to the GSO under the Ministry of Finance, the survey aims to collect data on businesses, cooperatives, and cooperative alliances. The information will support economic and social policy-making, macroeconomic forecasting, and planning at both the national and provincial levels.

The survey results will be used to calculate key economic indicators such as gross domestic product (GDP) and gross regional domestic product (GRDP) for 2024. It will also support the compilation of the national accounts system and other specialized statistical indicators.

Additionally, the data will contribute to the compilation of the “2025 White Book on Vietnamese Enterprises” and the “2025 White Book on Cooperatives.” It will also be used to aggregate indicators on agriculture, forestry, and fisheries from enterprises engaged in those sectors, as part of the 2025 rural and agricultural census.

The survey will help update the sample frame for future enterprise-related surveys and provide data for other users, including policymakers and analysts.

According to the survey plan, the investigation will cover all 63 provinces and centrally governed cities, targeting businesses engaged in all industries listed under the Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification (VSIC 2018), except for three sectors:

Sector O: Activities of the Communist Party, political and social organizations, state management, national defense, and compulsory social security

Sector U: Activities of international organizations and agencies

Sector T: Domestic service activities and household production for self-consumption

The survey’s target group includes all production and business establishments operating in a single economic sector at a fixed location (economic unit by region), across all sectors of the national economy except for the three mentioned above.

The timeline is as follows:

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City: April 1 to July 31, 2025

Provinces with more than 5,000 enterprises: April 1 to June 30, 2025

Provinces with fewer than 5,000 enterprises: April 1 to May 31, 2025

Corporations and economic groups: June 1 to July 15, 2025
