According to the Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue (C07) under the Ministry of Public Security, Vietnam recorded 153 fire incidents nationwide during the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday.

Among these, there were 71 residential fires, 15 fires at production facilities, 7 vehicle fires, 8 fires in residential-commercial buildings, 51 other types of fires, and one forest fire.

These incidents resulted in three injuries and caused damage estimated at 3.4 billion VND (approximately $137,000).

Authorities noted an improvement compared to the previous Lunar New Year.

The number of fire incidents decreased by 20 cases.

Estimated property damage was reduced by 3.2 billion VND (from 6.6 billion VND to 3.4 billion VND or approximately $264,000 to $137,000).

No fires or explosions resulted in severe human casualties or extensive property loss.

"The main causes of these fires were electrical short circuits and careless handling of open flames and heat sources," a representative from C07 stated.

In line with the Prime Minister’s directive on urgent fire prevention and rescue measures, especially for high-risk establishments and crowded locations during the New Year holidays, fire departments nationwide implemented strict fire safety measures.

"Firefighters increased public awareness campaigns, educated residents on fire prevention and emergency evacuation, conducted safety inspections, and organized fire drills at high-risk locations," the department representative emphasized.
