After more than four years of research, Vietnam's artificial intelligence (AI) robot Anan has been introduced. This is the product of an AI robot project developed by the ETT International Joint Stock Company beginning in 2019.

Anan's name was inspired by the famous teacher Chu Van An. This Make in Vietnam robot is capable of conducting conversations based on big data and AI technology.

Anan can understand exchanges in Vietnamese, and analyze and evaluate content to make communication decisions.

According to a member of the development team, current Vietnamese-language AI platforms and applications can only understand short commands loaded in advance. Users can only issue or match orders with the app, but cannot yet have a natural conversation.

But Anan is able to solve this issue by accurately identifying the user's intention, including long conversations without having to match the commands that were taught. After that, the robot selects the content to exchange and respond to the user according to the pre-built scenario.

At the test session, the robot demonstrated its ability to teach life skills. This activity included guiding students in the lesson, holding discussions, analyzing and evaluating answers, choosing appropriate content for further training, re-checking taught knowledge, and reviewing old lessons.

The AI robot model offers children 1:1 training, and evaluates and corrects errors, and follows up throughout the process, helping children apply the skills they have been taught.

The development team said that Anan and ChatGPT both are built on Google's Transformer natural language processing technology. The difference is that, while ChatGPT uses a written input channel, Anan has the ability to interact with people using a Vietnamese voice.

The robot can use the typical voice of regions in Vietnam such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces. Anan's weakness is that it only uses Vietnamese language. However, this will be fixed in subsequent versions.

The big difference between Anan and ChatGPT is that the communication content of the robot is censored. The development team will be responsible for the content and quality of the answers.

In addition, Anan actively controls communication, guiding the person to the main topic instead of answering content outside the curriculum. Parents receive reports from the robot about their child's psychological state and learning results through the app.
