According to newly updated data from the i-Speed system, the average mobile broadband Internet download speed in Vietnam reached 42.11 Mbps in May, showing a slight increase from April's 41.58 Mbps.
The average mobile broadband upload speed also saw an improvement, rising to 19 Mbps from April's 18.28 Mbps.
In contrast, the average fixed broadband Internet download speed nationwide in May was 100.96 Mbps, a decrease from 106.43 Mbps in April. Similarly, the average upload speed for fixed broadband was 102.39 Mbps, slightly down from April's 103.28 Mbps.
Since April 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications has been publicly disclosing the service quality of Internet service providers in Vietnam. The May results indicate that VNPT continues to lead in mobile Internet download speed, achieving 45.82 Mbps.
Viettel follows closely, ranking second with a mobile Internet download speed of 45.09 Mbps. MobiFone and Vietnamobile reported mobile Internet download speeds of 29.47 Mbps and 7.74 Mbps, respectively.
In the fixed broadband segment, CMC Telecom emerged as the leader. Users of this provider experienced an average download speed of 318.52 Mbps and an average upload speed of 210.92 Mbps in May.
The subsequent rankings for fixed broadband download speeds were VNPT (99.74 Mbps), Viettel (98.17 Mbps), FPT Telecom (97.83 Mbps), SCTV (84.23 Mbps), Netnam (55.96 Mbps), and SPT (45.45 Mbps).
The Ministry of Information and Communications' announcement of Internet access service speeds aims to enhance transparency and public interest in service provision. This initiative allows individuals, organizations, and enterprises to make informed choices about their Internet service providers based on their specific needs and conditions.
The publication of this data also aims to improve management efficiency based on actual data, thereby contributing to the overall development and quality enhancement of Internet access services in Vietnam.
The Telecommunications Department encourages regular use of the i-Speed application to measure Internet access speed. This service is free of charge and does not incur data costs, ensuring accessibility for all users.
