On the morning of November 21, MOST held a press briefing to announce details about TECHFEST 2024.

TECHFEST is an annual event organized by MOST in collaboration with various ministries, local authorities, and socio-political organizations.

Now in its ninth year, TECHFEST Vietnam has become a key event that attracts policymakers, managers, businesses, startup support organizations, and investment funds. It serves as a platform to connect domestic and international resources for Vietnam's startup ecosystem, solidifying the country's position on the global innovation map.

TECHFEST 2024 will take place in Hai Phong under the theme “Joining Hands to Develop Vietnam's Innovative Startup Ecosystem.” The event will showcase, inspire, and celebrate the achievements of Vietnam’s innovation and entrepreneurship efforts.

In 2024, Vietnam's startup ecosystem ranked 56th globally in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index by Startup Blink. Notably, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City entered the top 200 global startup cities.

Vietnam's Global Innovation Index (GII) has shown consistent improvement, rising from 59th place in 2016 to 44th in 2024. Among the highlights of the GII 2024, Vietnam achieved three top-ranking indicators globally, including, for the first time, Creative Goods Exports.

Venture capital activity in Vietnam also shows positive trends. The Number of Venture Capital Deals improved from 77th place in 2022 to 50th in 2024. Similarly, the Amount of Venture Capital Received advanced from 54th in 2021 to 44th in 2024.

Deputy Minister Hoang Minh acknowledged Vietnam’s achievements but noted areas for improvement to further develop startups and their contributions to economic and social growth. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among ministries, local authorities, and international partners to advance Vietnam’s startup ecosystem and its global presence.

Hoang Minh Cuong, Deputy Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, expressed the city’s honor in hosting TECHFEST 2024. He announced that preparations for the event are nearly complete.

"During TECHFEST, several activities will take place in Hai Phong, including the launch of semiconductor training programs, the inauguration of the Hai Phong Innovation Startup Center, the unveiling of Hai Phong’s digital government project, and a forum on green digital transformation for socioeconomic development," Cuong said.

TECHFEST 2024 will run from November 26 to 28 in Hai Phong, featuring:
