Despite a failure at home, where it was at cinemas for only 10 days and earned modest revenue, "578: Magum" has been sold to many film distributors in Italy, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Slovakia, Israel, India, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Denmark, and Taiwan (China).
This is one of several Vietnamese action films that are released in Europe. As planned, by June 30, the movie will will have been shown in 42 countries and nearly 10 territories.
The movie producer revealed that 578: Magnum is released through distributors in the UK and Germany, and it will be available in 62 countries this year, to earn around $2.63 million.
Previously 578 Magnum made its debut to international audiences in November 2022, at the 26th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF) held in Estonia.
The local film will continue to take part in festivals in the United States, Canada, and Greece.
Directed by Luong Dinh Dung, 578 Magnum tells the story of a father, a container truck driver, who is driven to hunt down a gang of underground criminals that have kidnapped his daughter.
The cast is led by Alexandre Nguyen and features the likes of Hoang Phuc, model Jessica Minh Anh, and former Miss Universe Vietnam H'Hen Nie.
Produced at a cost of 60 billion VND, the movie earned only 3.5 billion VND in Vietnam after 10 days of release. It became the subject of controversy for being selected to the Best Foreign Film nomination at the Oscar 2023.
