Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau has left Vietnam for the US to compete at the Miss Universe 2022.
The local beauty dons an Ao Dai, the nation’s traditional long dress, in a modern style. Chau says the red colour will bring good luck for her, while dressing in an Ao Dai will help to promote Vietnamese cultural values to international friends.
The Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 winner travels to the pageant with six separate pieces of luggage, along with Banh Trang, a local rice paper cake, tea, and coffee as gifts to other contestants.
Ngoc Chau stands at 1.74 metres tall with measurements of 84-58-94. She has great experience at pageants, finishing first at Vietnam's Next Top Model 2016 and Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018, in the Top 10 of Miss Supranational 2019, and clinching the Miss Asian Supranational 2019 title.
Ngoc Chau is the first local Miss Universe representative to train alongside international experts in the Philippines and the US. Through this training, she has honed in skills expected to help her win high prizes at the beauty pageant.

The 71st Miss Universe pageant is set to get underway in New Orleans of Louisiana, drawing the participation of 83 contestants worldwide. The pageant’s grand finale is scheduled to take place on January 14.
In 2018 Vietnamese representative H’Hen Nie finished among the Top 5, marking the highest-ever finish by a Vietnamese contestant at the Miss Universe pageant.
The recent hot pick by global beauty website Sash Factor has seen the Tay Ninh native rank among the Top 20 of Miss Universe 2022. In Asia and Oceania, the Vietnamese representative is among the Top 5 alongside, contestants from the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, and India.
