
On February 3 (the sixth day of the Lunar New Year), a representative from HURC 1 (Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Company No. 1) provided an update on the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro Line’s commercial operations during the peak Tet 2025 holiday period.
From January 24 (Lunar December 25) to February 2 (Lunar January 5), the metro line operated 1,768 train trips, transporting 761,416 passengers and generating over 11.7 billion VND ($460,000 USD) in ticket revenue.
The busiest day was the second day of Tet, which saw 120,000 passengers and revenue exceeding 1.8 billion VND ($71,000 USD). Other peak days saw daily ridership ranging from 45,000 to 110,000 passengers.
The Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro Line officially began operations on December 22, 2024, with free rides for the first month. Since January 21, 2025, the metro has been operating under a paid ticket system, with fares set according to Ho Chi Minh City's regulations.
Operating hours: 5 AM - 10 PM, with around 200 trips per day.
Train capacity: 930 passengers per train (147 seats, 783 standing).
Train frequency: Every 8-12 minutes.
Speed: Up to 110 km/h (elevated sections) and 80 km/h (underground sections).

Day Pass: 40,000 VND ($1.57 USD), allowing unlimited travel within the day.
3-Day Pass: 90,000 VND ($3.53 USD).
Monthly Pass: 300,000 VND ($11.78 USD).
Student Monthly Pass: 150,000 VND ($5.89 USD) (50% discount).
Single Journey (cash payment): 7,000 - 20,000 VND ($0.27 - $0.78 USD) depending on distance.
Single Journey (cashless payment): 6,000 - 19,000 VND ($0.24 - $0.75 USD) depending on distance.
