On the evening of April 2, CAHN suffered a 0-1 loss to PSM Makassar in the first leg of the tournament's semi-final. Reflecting on the match, Coach Polking stated: “It was a good game with a fantastic atmosphere. Both teams played positive, attacking football. That’s important, as we always aim to improve the quality of Southeast Asian football.
In the first half, CAHN played better. Although Alan missed a penalty, the team created several clear-cut chances. Unfortunately, we couldn’t convert any of them. That’s football - when you attack a lot but fail to capitalize, you’re bound to be punished.”
“PSM Makassar played well in the second half and deserved their goal. However, overall, CAHN still dominated in terms of statistics. In the return leg, we must score more goals and improve our finishing,” he added.
“PSM Makassar is a very patient team that waits for the opponent’s mistakes. Regarding the conceded goal, it’s disappointing because the coaching staff gave clear instructions on marking and positioning. But PSM Makassar is always strong in set-piece situations,” said the CAHN head coach.
Coach Polking expressed confidence that CAHN will bounce back at home: “We still have the second leg at Hang Day Stadium, where our passionate supporters will be with us. We’ll move on from this match and focus on the home leg. I believe the players can turn things around. A one-goal deficit isn’t too much.”
