If confirmed, she would become the latest Vietnamese player to compete internationally, following her stints in Japan and Turkey.

According to KBSN Sport, a Vietnamese female volleyball player has applied for a trial with a Korean club.
While the player’s name was not disclosed, the report drew comparisons between the athlete and volleyball legend Kim Yeon Koung, sparking speculation among fans.
KBSN Sport noted: “She played for Vietnam’s national volleyball team at the Hangzhou Asian Games, where Vietnam defeated South Korea. I was truly surprised to see such an outstanding Vietnamese player. She has great height and attacking power, comparable to Kim Yeon Koung.”
The broadcaster further revealed that the mystery player had previously competed in Japan’s national league for five years and also had experience playing in Turkey’s top division - a perfect match for Tran Thi Thanh Thuy’s career history.
Currently, VTV Binh Dien Long An and Thanh Thuy herself have yet to confirm the news. Following her departure from Indonesia’s professional league, the star outside hitter is now preparing for the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Volleyball Cup 2025.
On February 21, in a friendly match between VTV Binh Dien Long An and newly promoted Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Thuy played all five sets, contributing significantly to her team’s performance in her return match.
If the rumors prove true, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy could become the next Vietnamese volleyball player to make history in South Korea, further raising the profile of Vietnamese volleyball on the international stage.
