An 11-second video, capturing an older couple caring for each other at a hospital, has had nearly half a million views on TikTok and been widely shared across social media in recent days.
The video, uploaded by Phan Bao Chau, included the caption: "I met the couple at the hospital. It was still early before working hours so she was sleeping in his arms. Oh my God, it's so endearing. I hope to have someone love me like that when I'm old."
The video attracted over 44,000 "likes" and hundreds of comments.
Netizens have left many comments: "I admire the complete love of the elderly couple"; "This is love for a lifetime, not just a moment"; "Love is not about staring at each other, but about looking together in the same direction"...
Chau told VietNamNet that he caught the moment on the morning of February 14 at a hospital in Nghe An. When taking his brother to a medical examination, Chau happened to witness couple in the hospital corridor.
"When they arrived, the hospital had not yet started working hours, and there were only on-duty doctors. She was carsick and tired, so she laid her head on his arm to sleep. I found the moment so adorable that I recorded it and shared it on social media, not expecting it to garner such attention," he said.
Nguyen Thi Van, 67, the woman in the clip, and her husband Ngo Kim Trong, 70, have five children. They now live together with the youngest son and his family. However, as the children were busy at work, the couple decided to take care of the grandchildren and do housework.
Van said she had been feeling unwell lately and constantly fatigued without knowing why. Trong insisted on taking her to the hospital for a general check-up.
At 4:30 am February 4, they took a coach from their village to the city for a medical check-up. Upon arrival, as the hospital was not yet open, they waited in the corridor.
"I was nauseous from the bus ride, vomiting and feeling weak, so I didn't know anything, just lying on him to rest. Only recently, my niece showed me the video, and I realized that the moment was captured," Van said, smiling.
Despite feeling carsick and weary, with her husband's care and help in handling the paperwork, Van's medical examination was completed smoothly. At 11.30 am that day, the couple took the coach back home.
