The Politburo and the Secretariat have directed research and proposals for restructuring the judicial system at the local level, aiming to eliminate district-level courts and procuracies.

Report submission deadline: April 7

Standing Secretary Tran Cam Tu recently signed Politburo Conclusion No. 127, outlining plans to reorganize the political system's structure.

One key directive is the development of a proposal to restructure the local judicial system, following the orientation of discontinuing district-level courts and procuracies.

The Politburo and the Secretariat have assigned the Party Committees of the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy to lead the research and proposal process in collaboration with relevant agencies.

These entities must submit an initial report for the Politburo’s review before consulting party committees and organizations, with a deadline of March 9.

The research findings and feedback from party committees and agencies must be compiled into a formal proposal and submitted to the Politburo and the Secretariat by March 27. The finalized proposal must then be presented to the Party Central Committee via the Central Organization Commission by April 7.

Streamlining political and social organizations

The Politburo and the Secretariat have also mandated the development of a plan to restructure the Vietnam Fatherland Front, political and social organizations, and mass associations assigned tasks by the Party and the State at the central, provincial, and local levels.

The Party Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and central mass organizations will lead this initiative, coordinating with the Central Organization Commission, the Party Committees of the Government and National Assembly, and relevant agencies.

The restructuring will involve a comprehensive review of organizational functions and structures, particularly in media agencies, to ensure unified management and operational efficiency. The goal is to minimize redundancies and retain only essential units.

Additionally, political and social organizations, as well as mass associations under Party and State oversight, will be consolidated under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to align with the current party structure.

The Politburo and the Secretariat have urged these entities to expedite the process, incorporating feedback and finalizing the proposal by April 7 for submission to the Party Central Committee.

Furthermore, the Politburo and the Secretariat have directed the Central Organization Commission to draft a proposal on restructuring the local party organization system at the provincial and communal levels.

The research will focus on aligning the party’s organizational model with local government structures and enhancing the authority of grassroots party organizations.

The draft proposal must be submitted to the Politburo by March 12 for preliminary approval before being shared with provincial and municipal party committees.

The final version, integrating all feedback, will be compiled into a comprehensive report for the Politburo by April 7 and submitted to the Party Central Committee by April 9.
