On December 22, the Ministry of Defense hosted a review and commendation ceremony for the event, marking it as the most significant defense diplomacy activity in 2024.

Held as part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the All-People National Defense Festival, the exhibition was hailed as a resounding success, ensuring absolute security and safety for all participants.

Lt. Gen. Chien noted the enthusiasm of visitors, especially for interactive displays showcasing Vietnam’s defense industry. “The turnout has been beyond expectations, with thousands lining up to experience the exhibits,” he said.

The Vietnam Military History Museum also reported record-breaking numbers, welcoming up to 47,000 visitors in a single day.

The Defense Exhibition itself saw 125,000 visitors on December 21 alone. Due to high demand, the Ministry of Defense extended access to select exhibits until December 23.

Lt. Gen. Chien praised the preparation and dedication of the organizing teams, which distributed over 60,000 bottles of water and ration packs to visitors, ensuring a well-managed and hospitable experience.

The exhibition generated significant media attention, with over 8,000 articles and 400 domestic and international journalists covering the event.

Social media platforms were also flooded with positive feedback, reflecting public pride in Vietnam’s defense achievements. Foreign delegations lauded the event, recognizing it as a testament to Vietnam's growing stature in the global defense community.

Contracts and accomplishments

The exhibition resulted in 16 contracts worth over $286 million, doubling the value of agreements signed during the 2022 event.

Lt. Gen. Chien highlighted the event’s role in showcasing Vietnam’s defense capabilities and fostering public trust in the strength of the People’s Army.

One particularly moving moment involved an 83-year-old veteran traveling from Dien Bien to witness Vietnam’s defense advancements firsthand. Such stories, Chien noted, underscore the event’s impact in uniting the people and the military.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of learning from this event to enhance future celebrations, such as the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and the 80th National Day in 2025.

He also commended the ground and air performances, including breathtaking air force demonstrations and displays by military dogs, special forces, military bands, and cultural performers, which drew large crowds.

Chien concluded by urging all teams to maintain vigilance and coordination as the exhibition continues into its final day, ensuring security and the best experience for visitors.
