Upon his arrival in Hanoi, Logan Moffitt, known for his YouTube channel with over 1.08 million followers, wasted no time diving into the local cuisine.
His first stop was a small eatery in Tay Ho District’s Xuan Dieu Street, where he enjoyed a steaming bowl of rare beef pho (phở bò tái), generously garnished with fresh scallions and crunchy bean sprouts.
“I’ve been eagerly waiting to have a bowl of hot pho as soon as I arrived in Vietnam,” Logan remarked.
During his 5-day, 4-night stay, Logan explored various culinary spots, sampling the best of Hanoi’s traditional dishes. His love for pho was evident as he returned multiple times to savor both rare beef pho and well-done beef pho from renowned restaurants like those on Hang Vai Street in Hoan Kiem District.
He described the broth as deeply flavorful, with fragrant notes of marrow, complemented by the tenderness of the beef and the abundance of scallions - his favorite ingredient. Logan even revisited his first pho spot on his last morning in Hanoi to relive the comforting flavors one more time.
In addition to pho, Logan embraced Hanoi’s other iconic dishes, including bún chả, bánh cuốn, phở cuốn, and bánh mì. His enthusiasm for bún chả was so intense that he indulged in it five times during his trip, alternating between dining at restaurants and taking it to go.
“This dish made me feel like I’d been missing out my entire life,” he exclaimed after his first bite of bún chả.
Vietnamese coffee also left a lasting impression. Logan drank coffee 4-5 times daily, exploring variations like egg coffee, iced milk coffee , coconut coffee, and the mild and sweet coffee (bạc sỉu).
