In April and early May, public servants, government employees, and other workers in Vietnam may have up to eight days off for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, Reunification Day (April 30), and International Workers’ Day (May 1).

According to the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to one full paid day off for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month).

This year, the holiday falls on Monday, April 7 (Gregorian calendar). For employees who do not work on weekends, this translates into a three-day break from Saturday, April 5 to Monday, April 7.

For workers who are required to work on Saturdays, the holiday will span two consecutive days, from Sunday, April 6 to Monday, April 7.

As for the April 30 – May 1 holiday, public employees will exchange Friday, May 2 with Saturday, April 26, allowing for a five-day break from Wednesday, April 30 to Sunday, May 4. Employees will work on Saturday, April 26, to make up for the swapped weekday.

Government agencies and public offices are advised to arrange appropriate staffing during the holidays to ensure continuity in public services and remain ready to respond to emergencies as required.

Agencies and localities are also encouraged to develop tailored plans to promote production, business operations, and social and economic activities throughout the holiday period. This helps maintain supply and demand, stabilize prices, and ensure market efficiency.

For organizations that do not follow a fixed Saturday–Sunday weekend schedule, holiday arrangements should be made in accordance with the unit’s specific work plans and operational needs, while complying with legal provisions.

For employees in the private sector or other groups not subject to the standard public service schedule, employers have the discretion to choose a holiday break plan for April 30 and May 1, similar to those applied for government employees.
