The World Culinary Awards, a global initiative that celebrates excellence in the culinary industry, announced the result based on votes from experts and the public over the course of a year.

In the category of Asia's Best Culinary City Destination 2024, Hanoi topped the list, defeating strong contenders such as Bangkok, Seoul, and Tokyo. Several restaurants and hotels in Hanoi were also recognized for their culinary services.

The World Culinary Awards is part of the World Travel Awards, launched in 1993, which aims to honor excellence in tourism and hospitality.

In 2023, Hanoi beat formidable competitors like Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Taipei (Taiwan) to win the title of Asia's Best Emerging Culinary City from the World Culinary Awards.

Earlier this year, Vietnam's capital was also ranked among the top 15 culinary destinations worldwide by readers of Tripadvisor, the world's largest travel guide platform.

Famous dishes from Hanoi, such as pho, bun cha, cha ca, and pho cuon, continue to be favorites among international visitors.
